Gradient Series - Elevation Map
This component allows a elevation value to be mapped to either a color map, a percentage map or a bump map. This makes is good for re-mapping a bump function.

Common Parameters
  Blend 1 to 8
The eight blends values determine the points where the input function is mapped to the color map and/or the alpha map. Basically, the Blend Function input will vary, say, between 0.0 and 1.0 and this is used to map to the color and alpha values. If the Blend Function value is below the Blend 1 value then Color/Alpha 1 values are used. Similarly, if the Blend Function value is above the Blend 8 value then Color/Alpha 8 values are used. However, if the value falls between to blends values then a linear blend of the respective color and alpha values is used. For example, say Blend 1 is 0.0 and Blend 2 is 1.0 with the Blend Function returning 0.5. The result will be a blend between colors 1 and 2, and alphas 1 and 2. In this way an input Blend Function can be used to map a color/alpha gradient based on these blend values.
  Do Blend
This check box allows map to be blended either smoothly, when it is checked, or in discrete steps, when it is unchecked.
Blend Function This link only parameter controls the blend function used by the map. This should be linked to an elevation output and the bump height is used to as the blend function.
Color Only Parameters
Colors 1 to 8
These eight colors determine the colors that are mapped to the Blend Function input.
Alpha 1 to 8
These eight values determine the alpha values that are mapped to the Blend Function input. The alpha map allows the opacity of the color map to be controlled. If an alpha is 100% then the elevation map blend at that point will be clear allowing the Background Color to show through. Similarly, if the alpha value at that point in 0% then the color from the color map is used. This allows holes and/or fades between the colors from the color map and the background to be created.
Back Ground Color This color is as the background color used when the color map's opacity is being controlled by the alpha map values.
Percentage Only Parameters
Percent 1 to 8 These eight values determine the percent values that are mapped to the Blend Function by the Blend values when the component is being used for a controlling a percent output.
Bump Only Parameters
Height 1 to 8 These eight values determine the height values that are mapped to the Blend Function by the Blend values when the component is being used for a controlling the bump height.
Bump Scale This parameter controls the overall scaling of the bump height. When it is positive it controls the height of the bumps and when negative it controls the depth of the pits.

Tweak This means the parameter can be tweaked.
Link This means the parameter can be linked.
User This means the parameter can be controlled by the user.
